Alternate Earths
82. Tainted Eden Earth
The "Gineers" (Engineers) of this world tried to build a paradise for themselves and they came close in many ways--they invented a healing salve which can heal most ills and fruit which can taste like anything you want, from steak to a cheeseburger. One problem the Gineers were unable to solve is that of the periodic earthquakes caused by the tidal pulls of the moon and two-other Earth-like worlds which orbit this one. It seems that the Gineers built an entire valley on top of a huge set of pistons, designed to cushion the world above from the earthquakes. Over time, the earthquakes have been getting worse and worse, the Gineers are gone and the people living in the valley are now faced with the decision of whether or not to try to flee the valley. Some have tried in the past, but no one has ever returned.
When the underground world of pistons were closed off, some people were trapped and they and their descendants have lived there since, evolving over time into troglodite-like creatures. Those who do occasionally find their way to the surface are hunted for food.
98. Flashback Earth
On this Earth, Wade and Remmie related their adventures on Tainted Eden Earth to each other. Since Wade is in a sleeping bag outdoors, this world either doesn't have towns, or the Sliders landed out in the middle of nowhere. One question: Where did Wade get the sleeping bag?Notes
- The position of Tainted Eden Earth as #82 in the list of alternate earths is conjectural. We see the events on this world unfold as a flashback as told by Wade and Rembrandt to each other on Flashback Earth sometime after the Professor's death. I chose this position in the list because this episode was filmed after Paradise Lost but before the two part episode The Exodus during which the Professor was killed.
